What makes you a high value dealer?


If you:

  • are a Jersey business trading in goods
  • accept cash payments that exceed £12,500 (including coins, notes, and traveller’s cheques)
  • accept payments by virtual currency

you are a high value dealer.


Examples of businesses that could be a target


Common examples of goods sold by high value dealers:

  • jewellery
  • art and antiques
  • precious metals 
  • cars and yachts 
  • agricultural goods

Examples of high value dealers:

  • retailers selling high-end electronics like tablets and smartphones
  • businesses selling alcohol and tobacco
  • wholesale/cash and carry businesses
  • businesses that supply tools and equipment to tradespersons, such as plumbers and electricians

If your business falls under one of the above categories, then you should register as a Schedule 2 business.
