Fraud warning: scam impersonating the JFSC and Kerry Petulla, an Executive Director of the JFSC
We have been made aware that scammers are impersonating the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) and Kerry Petulla, the JFSC’s Executive Director of Enforcement, Intelligence and Financial Crime.
The scammers are sending emails from the impersonating email address [email protected] to businesses falsely claiming:
- a preliminary reference has been made to the business as part of an internal regulatory assessment within the JFSC’s Enforcement Division
- the business needs to confirm contact details for secure communication
This is a scam. The impersonating email address and emails sent from it are not in any way connected to the JFSC or Kerry Petulla. If you receive an email like this, do not respond.
If you have received an email, text, call or letter from the JFSC, and are unsure whether it might be a scam, we encourage you to take the following steps to verify you are corresponding with the genuine JFSC or its employees:
- only use the JFSC’s official website www.jerseyfsc.org
- ensure emails from the JFSC match the official JFSC email domain – @jerseyfsc.org
- call the JFSC on +44 (0)1534 822000 and ask to speak to the individual who sent, or appears to have sent the message, to verify its legitimacy
