Is my activity or operation that of a Designated Non-Financial Business or Profession?
We supervise Designated Non-Financial Businesses or Professions (DNFBPs) for anti-money laundering, countering the financing of terrorism and countering proliferation financing purposes.
DNFBPs are described in Part 3 of Schedule 2 of the Proceeds of Crime (Jersey) Law 1999. They are categorised as:
Casinos
Real estate agents
High value dealers
Lawyers
Accountants
Trust and company service providers (TCSPs) (to include for example Directors).
Determining whether an activity or operation is within the definition of DNFBP features the following aspects:
Conducts relevant activities or operations
Does so “as a business” and
In the case of TCSPs only, provides the service to third parties.
If you or your business wish to conduct supervised activity, consideration should be given to registration obligations before beginning to conduct that business.
