- Getting Started
Application
You can apply for any role that suits your profile and matches your interests. We will ask you to provide specific information and ask you to submit your application online. If the job requires a cover letter, grab our attention by reflecting your personality in it. We can’t wait to meet you.
Informal Chat
For more senior or complex roles, we may be in touch for an informal chat. This could be a short telephone chat, a video call or even be a catch up over coffee. We just want to know you better and profile you correctly for the vacancy. It is also a chance for you to meet us informally to gain more information about the role and the JFSC. We will be asking basic information about your skills, experience, and interests in the position, and you can ask anything you want! This will either be with the hiring manager and or the People & Culture team.
Assessment(s)/Interview(s)
Our hiring managers are very friendly and will be glad to help you through the process. We know that interviews can be nerve racking and we want to help you be at your best - we’re not interested in trying to catch you out or put you under undue pressure, more just ensuring that the role is both right for you and for us.
You will meet the hiring manager and another member of the management/hiring team. Some roles also require a role-based assessment that mirrors the job expectations, this could be situational based or competency based. Don’t worry about these or let them put you off. These are as much about you assessing the type of work you will be undertaking and they will give you an insight into expectations. All answers are valid and the results will be used to shape your development plan when you start.
We do recommend that you prepare for your interview with examples of work you have completed in the past and it is worth considering your career challenges, achievements and how you have got results. We recommend the STAR method:
- Situation – tell us what the example is about
- Task – tell us what needed to be achieved
- Action – tell us what you did
- Result – tell us the outcome
Some of our more senior roles will also include a psychometric test to help us better understand your working preferences and leadership style. Any candidate undertaking these will receive the full report and a development session with a coach to debrief the results, regardless of the outcome.
Offer
Following the selection, we will extend an offer subject to satisfactory references. Upon offer acceptance, we will get you started on your JFSC journey.
Getting started
We can’t wait for you to join us! In the weeks leading up to your first day of work, there are steps we need you to take to ensure you’re able to join us without any delays.
The first step is to complete the documentation process which involves uploading soft copies of credentials, filling employment related forms and signing some documents on our onboarding platform. Thereafter, background checks will follow subject to your consent. You’ll be contacted by our trusted partner, Giant Screening via the direct email you provided to start this process. The screening process is a legal requirement and as a regulator, we take this seriously as it protects our integrity. Our People and Culture team will help you through this process as quickly as possible. We are committed to supporting you throughout your employment journey at the JFSC.
Once you start you will be buddied up with an experienced member of the team to help you navigate your first few weeks. You will have a 6-month probation, which includes on the job training and regular touchpoints with your manager, stakeholders relevant to your role and the People & Culture team. Together with your manager you will put together a 90-day plan to give you structure for your initial training. We encourage people to take ownership of their contribution and performance, but we ensure that everyone is supported to be at their best.
Returners programme
We recognise that people sometimes leave the professional workspace and often find it difficult to return having been away for a while. If you have taken a break from the professional workspace and are now ready to come back to work please don’t be put off from applying. We are happy to arrange an informal chat with one of the team so you can explore opportunities and understand the support that’s available to help you get back into the swing of things.
