Our Enforcement team investigates and, where appropriate, takes or proposes action against businesses and individuals who do not comply with our regulatory and legal requirements. We investigate actual and potential cases of serious regulatory misconduct.
We regularly engage and work constructively with our regulated community so that we achieve successful outcomes.
We seek to act firmly and fairly, to ensure regulated businesses and individuals take steps to resolve issues, particularly when breaches are self-reported.
Where breaches are particularly serious or efforts to address shortcomings fail, we will use our statutory powers and are prepared to impose a range of sanctions. These include:
restricting or preventing people from working in the finance industry without our consent
revoking or placing a condition on a business licence
issuing public statements
imposing civil financial penalties
referring cases to the States of Jersey Police or the Attorney General for possible criminal prosecution
International co-operation
Our Enforcement team also processes formal requests for assistance from overseas supervisory authorities, where the request relates to an investigation by the requesting authority.
