Jane Platt CBE

Chair

Jane Platt joined the JFSC as Chair in March 2024.

With extensive experience operating in large and complex businesses, Jane has a successful track record across financial services including institutional and retail investment management, stockbroking, banking and the civil service.

Jane began her career as an investment manager in pension funds with Mercury Asset Management, before moving to BZW Asset Management. She was appointed as Chief Operating Officer at the time of the creation of Barclays Global Investors and her first CEO role was at Barclays Stockbrokers.

She left Barclays to take up a senior global role at Reuters which gave her a comprehensive view of media and technology before being appointed Chief Executive of NS&I. NS&I is tasked with raising cost effective retail financing for the UK government. She led the business through the financial crisis and funds managed doubled in size during her tenure.

Jane has held a number of non executive roles, including spending six years on the Board of the Financial Conduct Authority. She also chairs Zurich Assurance, the UK subsidiary of the global insurance group, and she is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Insight Investment.

She was made CBE in 2013 for services to financial services. Jane is a Chartered Honorary Fellow of CISI and holds honorary doctorates from Warwick and Huddersfield Universities in addition to her MA from St Catherine’s College, Oxford.
